Purpose of PTM’s Struggle
The Pashtoon Tahafuz Movement (PTM) is a non-violent human rights movement that emerged to address the injustices, discrimination, and hardships faced by the Pashtoon people, particularly in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its purpose can be understood through the following key points:
Protection of Human Rights
PTM seeks to end enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and harassment of innocent civilians.
It demands justice for victims of military operations and war-on-terror-related violence.
Accountability and Rule of Law
The movement calls for accountability of all institutions and individuals involved in abuses against Pashtoons.
It insists that all actions must be in accordance with the constitution and law.
Demining Conflict Zones
PTM advocates for the removal of landmines from war-affected areas, which continue to injure and kill civilians long after conflicts.
Dignity and Respect for Pashtoons
The struggle emphasizes ending racial profiling and stereotyping of Pashtoons as militants or terrorists.
It demands equality, dignity, and respect for the Pashtoon identity within Pakistan.
Rehabilitation and Reconstruction
PTM urges proper rehabilitation for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and rebuilding of war-torn areas with necessary infrastructure.
Freedom of Speech and Assembly
The movement asserts the constitutional right to peaceful protest and expression without fear of repression.
We Remember. We Resist.
The Pashtun people will never forget these atrocities.
Our struggle continues — for truth, for justice, for peace.
