As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen organizational structures across Belgian cities, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) Belgium has officially established a City Committee in Mechelen.
The committee was formed during a joint gathering of Afghan residents living in Mechelen, with the participation of PTM Europe Coordinator Malik Bazi, PTM Belgium President Waheedullah Shirzad, along with other senior members and activists of the movement. During the meeting, the city committee was formally announced and its leadership members were democratically selected.
Mechelen is one of the Belgian cities with a significant Afghan population, where community members are living in a peaceful and integrated environment. The establishment of this city committee marks an important step toward community organization, unity, and active civic engagement, and aims to provide a stronger platform for advocacy, awareness, and the protection of human rights.
PTM Belgium believes that the formation of local city committees will play a key role in enhancing coordination, empowering the Afghan diaspora, and strengthening collective voices across Europe. The Mechelen City Committee will work closely with PTM Belgium and PTM Europe to promote the movement’s values, organize community activities, and encourage broader participation.
PTM Belgium warmly invites all conscious, peace-loving, and justice-seeking individuals to join the movement, contribute to its mission, and become part of a growing network committed to dignity, unity, and peaceful struggle.
